Starting up a mini league for my son
Because my family and I live in a quite a small village, there’s never been a football team for the local school. They don’t have any teachers with any interest in the sport, and with only about eighty kids in the school, it was always going to be difficult to get a full team together. However, one of my son’s friends went to a different school and they played in a seven a side league with other schools in the area. I knew that there were enough kids to put a team together, so I decided to volunteer my services. Within a month I was holding football training a night a week after school and all of the kids were excited about it, so I contacted the league, and entered our school into the league.
Although we didn’t do too well in our first season, I was so pleased with all of the kids’ efforts, so I decided to give out a few awards to cheer them up and reward the kids who had done particularly. I found a company called Aford Awards who were able to supply me with some really affordable Football Trophies. They looked great to, and I knew that the kids would be thrilled. I got the ok from the school, and arranged to come in at assembly. After the headmaster had given the normal assembly, he announced that there would be some awards for the football team, and I stepped up. I gave out the Football Trophies and Medals and all of the kids were thrilled! I think that in a small way they felt like stars, and it was great to see a smile on their faces after they had put so much effort in over the season.
